i'm over the hump, i hope...

so, we had a fun fact of our status as med students in class the other day: i'm about a 1/3 of the way through medical school. huzzah! there's still a LOT to go...let's not kid ourselves, however. aside from the rest of school, there's that thing called residency...cough cough. but still, a third!

but, this quarter, i'm seriously over the hump, i think. hardest course of medical school at UW out of the way. sweetness. it went fine, by the way. glad to know forty hours of studying and last-minute freak-outs on the night before (staying up until 3AM doing more practice questions) help. i have one final next tuesday, and a mid-term in a couple of weeks, and then three finals in december, which is a pretty damn light load considering us already having cleared three courses and other mid-terms since september.

this morning, my alarm didn't go off. i woke up at 10:11 and felt way too refreshed. i looked over and i was like, "uh...." i think as consequence of skipping, my first reaction was to skip, but i skipped last friday's class. two classes in a row where attendance actually counts probably isn't the best. so, what do i do? i crap out my 1/2 page paper response that i was going to due waking up at 8:45 when i was supposed to. i do it in 8 minutes, brush my teeth, drive to a friend's house, and then she drives me to school, and i make it by 10:45. that my friends is called a "hurry." i challenge you to pull your shite together that lightning fast. this is known as karma--you skip, you get screwed.

oh, and to rewind: how did i celebrate being done with cardio? i went with my friends to the ave to hit happy hour. i was drunk by 7PM off of three beers, one G&T, and a couple of pretzels and nachos. we learned that a bit of daily ethanol is really good for you in cardio; i don't think this counted. moreover, i think i understand how physicians have a higher incidence of substance addiction given my recent stress/drinking binge.

funness to come: halloween partay at the hizouse on friday. still don't know what i'm going to be. i wanted to get green leggings and go as a pumpkin...apparently, dem suckahs are like 30 bucks at american apparel. way too much for leggings. we'll see, though. i haven't been a pumpkin since i was a wee-tot; i think it's time to reprise that role.
