a pro-life argument from an embryological standpoint
also known as...
why daniel's a geek periodically.

so, i actually enjoyed the lecture in our second embryology class today. i found myself amazed at the differentiation and quick transformations of one cell into many.

the pro-life argument involves the fact that at about three weeks of development, the embryo has a beating heart (or at least beating premature heart tissue). the embryo is about one millimeter long, which means the heart is just a little itty bitty guy. and it beats. life? i think it might be.

in relation to the timeline of the menstrual cycle, this is about one week after you ladies miss your period.

it's hard for me to wrap my mind around the fact that a fertilized egg develops that quickly. seriously.

i consider myself pro-choice, but i think that's quite an indisputable, biological justification for whether or not an embryo is living. a beating heart.

follow-up from my last post: i'm doing better at studying.
except for right now.
