|medical school is going well. relatively, at least. i can't say i really love all of my classes or professors. in fact, the lecturing style of some profs may give me stressed/boredom-induced angina. talk talk. blah blah. we do have our cadavers, though. we completely dissected the back, exposing the spinal cord [laminectomy for all you med folks], and did the chest wall yesterday. by far a very cool experience. nothing like using a bone saw on vertebrae. oh. and we start patient social histories in the hospital next week. sweeeeeet. "so, uh, i'm a first year med student who knows shit about medicine...tell me all about yourself..."
|i went camping friday night on an island on the kenai lake with some friends. the boat's engine literally cut off after less than 30 seconds off-shore. fortunately, it re-started and we weren't stranded on the kenai lake (could have been bad...really bad). i also went to the state fair over the weekend where i got to see the world record-setting kale...over 105 pounds of kale! talk about lots o' fiber.
|i'm on a quest to infuse more fun-ness and hobbies into my drab, monotonous life. if you have any ideas...i'm thinking of re-learning the guitar (oh, the malaquena).
|i had a 20-oz coffee yesterday studying (of which i only drank half) and got the jitters. somehow the student+coffee=a must doesn't really work with me unless caffeinated tremors and stomach queasiness are supposed to be effect...
|i want to start some art projects and writing projects and feel the need to explore my creative side now that i apparently have nothing that is keeping me occupied...histology outlines, wah?
|below is a picture from my white coat ceremony a few weeks back. my mom said she is having a hard time grasping me as a doctor (hmmm...), and alluded to me looking like a butcher, perhaps, instead...
|speaking of weather, it's getting chilly...autumn, i fear, has already arrived--the leaves are turning, and i need my blankey.
|in an effort to look for many ways to procrastinate, el bloggo is back after too much of a hiatus. dan is still having good times in alaska. tis true.

I think you look like a dentist...maybe because it's buttoned? I dunno. You look good though! Who are the chicks?
the chicks (!) are two of my jv support people...they're actually older, parental friend types... :)
