a pony in seattle?

well, it's my first permanent day in seattle. it's a gorgeous sunny sunday and i woke up type-a, as usual, rarin' to go...

i'll post som
e photos of the house later, which is quite nice. i love that i live in a house--not a duplex, not an apartment, but a full stand-alone hizouse. i have four roommates, two of which i "knew" previously. two are in the m. div program at seattle u., one is doing higher ed. administration at seattle u., and the last works at the fire department downtown. all seem very nice, which will make my life much easier.

however, we're currently in the process of wrapping up summer-subletting, so i don't actually have MY room until september 1. so all of my stuff is just hanging around downstairs. a pain, but what are ya gonna do...

so, i wake up, organize the laundry room, pick up litter in our yard, sweep our back porch area, hose it off, and finally, get to the original goal of washing my car. 2400 miles on the alcan in the summer make for quite a few dead insects on the front of one's honda, especially after baking for a week. so, an hour later, it's all scrubbed off and lookin' squeaky clean.

my car wash was punctuated with a fantastic experience, though. this lady turns the corner of our house where i'm washing Honda, walking her dog and...you guessed it, a little horse/pony. i think it was actually a horse, one of those shetland ponies--the little guys. it was gray; it was very cute. the owner commented that her horse thinks our corner is the best corner and she hopes i don't mind her walking her horse on/around it. so, needless to say, i was quite taken. it definitely wasn't what i was expecting in the city.

my plans, today, include getting groceries, exploring my neighborhood, and thinking about the zillion things i have to buy, including a bed. but, thanks to amazon.com, i'll be staying in a bed equitable to the ritz-carlton. my dream of virgin, pure, white sheets, duvet, comforter, pillows, bed skirt, etc. has prematurely come true thanks to the amazing deals of the best website ever. of course, it's all moot until i get a bed to put it on.

moreover, i've decided that with a new city comes a new turn-of-the-leaf for blogging. it's been far too long; i've let my desires to update via the bloggy mcbloggerson lapse and feel a sense of shame in my dear-diary spontaneity.

a quick run-down of one of the best summers ever: a month in rural alaska (dillingham) for an internship, a paddling trip in sitka (southeast alaska), which was gorgeous, a trek through canada with my best friend and best boy, wherein we camped at the amazing liard hot springs one night, travels home to bama for one of my best friend's wedding, which allowed me to see all of my best friends from college, my lovely parents, & parents' new puppies, and of course, settling into my new house, whose location for the price might be the best in the city. we'll see as i get to know it better.

and a fun factoid of my life: i have lived in all u.s. time zones and i'm not even 25. i should have added that to my bucket list, cait dawg: mountain in CO until i was three, eastern in VA until college, central in AL for Spring Hill, alaska for jvc, and finally, pacific for medical school! i thought it was cool, at least...

I am glad to see you'll be updating more often--I was beginning to think I was the only blogger left! (and Sarah, I guess) glad you are settling in and yay for the mini-horse!
