oh, yes. the troubles of snowshoeing uphill.

first day of work at STAR? check. i am working with 15 or so females. and one man that comes in part-time. hmm. too much estrogen? perhaps. potential caddiness? mm-hmm.

so, there are five advocates that share my position. one has been there about a year. the others for a month, three weeks, two weeks, and me. fresh meat? i think so. all in all though, i think it'll be very interesting. today was very slow. i had to do my paperwork and get oriented. really, this whole week is going to be slow, i feel. but so it is.

i have a mandatory one-hour lunch, but since i'm so close, i just bike back to the apartment for a little one-hour siesta.

my weekend was fun. friday night, i had lots of red wine, and then some of us went to the jv house to steal the huge iconic pink marlin in the house. then we spent sunday trying to act clueless when we saw the as they inquired if we knew anything about it. good times.

saturday night, matt, brian, pete, stu, and i played some texas hold 'em. guess who won? that's right. yours truly.

sunday, a fellow fjv, brian, had a birthday party, so i went to that...played some horseshoes, ate some sausage, drank some beer, listened to some bluegrass...the usual outdoor alaskan shindig, i reckon.

and on a sad note, stu left for DC this morning/last night. but...he'll be keeping in touch...right?????!!!!! oh little stuey. (i'm listening to your rufus CD...good times...had by all...)

well...i'm going to go to bed. i'm pretty beat. i gotta get back into this whole work thing. gag gag. only four more days. haha.

How close is work to the apt?

I hope this first week is continuing to go well.

Loving and missing you,
