it's set in south africa. aside from intentionally raising awareness of the hiv/aids epidemic with multiple shots of billboards (which was great), this was just a beautiful coming-of-age/the-world-doesn't-entirely-have-to-be-shit movie. it makes me want to travel to africa and see firsthand the poverty and the lifestyle of the protagonist.

it's subtitled. it's amazing. it's one of my favorites. it's my must-see recommend of 2006. thus far.
